Description:

Apply interior or exterior plaster, cement, stucco, or similar materials. May also set ornamental plaster.

Training:

To become a skilled plasterer training is essential. This training can be acquired informally through learning-by-working with an experience plasterer, through registered labor-management apprenticeship programs, through company on-the-job training programs, and possibly by attending a trade or vocational-technical school. Although it is generally accepted that the more formalized training programs give more comprehensive skill training, most young men and women entering this occupation begin their career as helpers to experienced plasterers. Recommended high school courses include general mathematics, mechanical drawing, and shop.
